History of the Chevron

After graduating from the See Forward Ukraine program, Marharyta Vovchok, Alina Sheibokas, Yana Kliainfeld, Uliana Chumak, Milena Hryshko, and Alisa Kharchenko created “History on the Chevron,” a project that turns Ukrainian military sleeve insignia into living histories of brigades and the people behind them. By pairing the symbolism of chevrons with real stories from defenders, the team helps young Ukrainians (16–30) better understand the meaning carried on uniforms, and preserve memory for the generations who will rebuild after the war. The project begins in social media and grows toward a long-term goal: a collected book of stories, alongside community events and talks.
